The boat trip on lake Inle is one of the most popular in the whole Myanmar: Resorts managers know it well and suggest their customers tours that include visits to crafts workshops and free manufacturing demonstrations, with annexed stores that apply very “western” prices. One of these realities is the lotus and silk manufacturing workshop, that charms visitors for the spinning techniques, rigorously hand made in each passage, and fineness of materials. In this recording we can listen to the sound of the spindle running from side to side of the loom and the chat of a mother looking after her child while working. In the background, we can hear the non-stop noise of motorboats.
